Aiming to make the world a better, more holistic place, Boem creates a product that is made by hand, by artisans and that is not mass produced. Its linen is pure, 100% raw linen, which means it has not been chemically treated or blended with other fibres, it is durable and due to its processes, it is environmentally friendly and biodegradable. It is made from a resilient fibre, that can grow in poor soils, requiring very little to no fertiliser. It also requires minimal water to thrive, thus giving it a lower water footprint. Almost all of the flax plant is used too, so there is very little waste.
Boem
All of Boem’s garments are dyed by hand – one by one, either by dunking, pouring or immersing the fabric in dye. The pigments are measured by the naked eye and boiled in a beautiful copper vat over a gas burner. Hand dying possesses imperfect, irregular and charming qualities, ensuring that all products are original, authentic and one of a kind. When your hand dyed Boem piece is washed it will age a little, in the best possible way, offering a worn, stonewashed effect. This is where the magic happens, and after every wear, use or wash it will change a little more, becoming your most loved, cherished thing.
